Maybe not the best part of Kelowna’s history! I hope Myta had a good life.

Kelowna was once home to the Okanagan Zoo and Myta the famous smoking chimpanzee. Image from a "You know your from kelowna,b.c. if you remember...." Facebook post by Wes Hannebauer who grew up with the Miller family who owned the zoo. The zoo was located behind where the Canadian Tire and trailer court are now located. There are many stories and fables surrounding the zoo and Myta's escape and trip into Sid's groceries (the store with the polka dot building).
