And this baby step towards the dream and vision helps to ease the pain of the stark contrast in lifestyle from the one you’ve left.

So, to say I’m proud of my tenant/buyer clients is an understatement.💝

They have methodically and calmly (at least on the surface) approached their move to Dorchester in a way that eases the transition for their kids, who are starting at a new school in September, and for their family as a whole, navigating the sometimes difficult and unexpected timelines when building a new home.

When we set out to find a new home for them back in May, it was my absolutely pleasure spending that first day with them touring around a good handful of communities in and around London, checking out the schools, the amenities, the “feel”, and a few beautiful homes sprinkled in there too.

The goal was not to buy a home that day. It was to find a community that actually felt like it could be their new home.🗝️

And having grown up in London, spending the last 38 years of my life watching London grow, it was really cool and fun to share my experiences and knowledge of the city with my new clients.☺️

When they landed on wanting to build new in Dorchester, it meant that I not only could help facilitate that purchase, but that I would have an opportunity to help them find a short-term rental in town with the same feel as their new home and neighbourhood would have.💕

It wasn’t an easy task because, let’s be honest, the rental market is TOUGH right now, and it required a more direct, aggressive approach, and more creative negotiations with landlords to agree to a short-term stay over accepting a long-term lease.

In the end, we were all grateful for the win (on all sides) and now my clients have a place to call home until their beautiful new home is ready for them to move in! 🎉

I still remember standing in that first house, imagining our life inside it. We wanted a detached home in our favourite neighbourhood so badly. But the numbers just didn’t work, and we realized we had to let that dream go.

So we found a condo instead. Beautiful, move-in ready, and all ours. It gave us so much: 🤍 First steps as parents, neighbours who became family, and memories I wouldn’t trade for anything.

But six years later, when we sold it, we walked away having barely broken even. All those years of condo fees had quietly eaten away at what should have been our equity. What should have been our future. Nobody told us there was another way.

Another first home sold! 🎉🏡

So happy for my first time buyers on this one. We found them an incredible property at an awesome price, and the timing couldn’t be better. Their wedding is just a few months away, so they’ll be all moved in and settled long before the celebrations start. 🍾

And what a spot they landed. Only 5 minutes from family, 15 minutes from some of the best fishing around, and their own piece of property to start a garden and keep chickens. 🐓

Congratulations to my Whitby buyer clients who are new to London and Dorchester! 🎉

A few months ago, I got an email out of the blue from my now client who said “Hi there, my wife and I got your name from our friend, Mike, who suggested we get in touch with you to buy a home in London. Can you help?”

I didn’t know Mike at the time…so before I responded, I found Mike on Facebook, and saw that he works at the same fire hall as a very close friend of mine in London!

I reached out to my friend and said, “hey, do you know Mike? He referred his friends to me!” 😅

My friend said, “yeah, he asked me if I knew of a good realtor in London and I told him about you.” 🥰

It’s funny how things work out, eh? I reached out to Mike to thank him for the referral, and a few weeks later, I had the pleasure of spending the day with my new clients, introducing them to different neighbourhoods within London and a couple of towns on the outskirts of London too. This was an exploration day so that they could get a feel for the different pockets in and around London, see a few properties in these areas, and figure out what worked best for their family. I had a lot of fun sharing London with them, especially because London is where I was born and raised. 💞

They ended up settling on Dorchester for the strong community feel, availability of local sports, excellent walking trails, great schools, and proximity to London, and I’m excited to see their vision come to life in their new home being built there.

I’m so grateful to have been introduced to my clients and to help them find and create a home for their family in Dorchester, even with a little bit of a stepped approach to make it all happen.
