3 Beds, 1.5 baths, FOUR PARKING (Yipes).

In real estate—particularly in Ontario—a "link" (or link home) refers to a specific type of construction where two properties appear to be detached but are actually physically connected in a way that isn't immediately obvious.

Since 43 Whelan Drive is described as a "link," here is what that means for its structure and value:

What is a Link Home?

A link home is a hybrid between a detached house and a semi-detached house.

· Hidden Connection:The "link" usually happens underground at the concrete foundation or through the garage walls.From the street, the houses often look like they have a gap between them, but they are technically one continuous structure.

· No Shared Living Walls:Unlike a standard townhouse or "semi," you typically do not share a wall between your living rooms or bedrooms. This means much better soundproofing and privacy.

Why 43 Whelan is Classified as a Link

In the case of 43 Whelan, the listing notes it is "attached."Because it is a 2-storey home in an older part of Barrhaven (Pheasant Run), it was likely built this way to maximize density while giving homeowners a "detached feel."

New Build Bonanza. Up to $130,000 HST Rebate Expanded to ALL New Home Buyers

The Ontario government made a major announcement today that could significantly lower the cost of your next home purchase.

As part of the 2026 Provincial Budget, the government is proposing to expand the HST rebate on new homes to all buyers—not just first-time buyers. For a limited one-year window, you could save up to $130,000 on a newly built home or residential rental property.

The Highlights:

• Max Rebate: Up to $130,000 for homes valued up to $1.5 million.
• Eligibility: Open to all buyers (primary residence or rental) for a one-year period.
• The Window: Purchase agreements must be signed between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
