Every seller has a different definition of success when it comes to selling their home.

For some people it’s speed! They just wanna be done with it as fast as possible.

For some people it’s money. They want to make sure they get a specific final number so that they can execute their next steps.

My daughter will be home tomorrow and I don’t want her to know we might have to sell the house.”

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows and unlike what most people think, being a realtor isn’t about looking fancy in a video or sticking your face on the front lawn of a big beautiful house.

We met almost two years ago at a cottage in Horton and bonded over our love for creepy basements, water towns and quirky houses.

After a few duds, a failed attempt at a purchase (nobody needs a house with a saggy foundation 😜) and some dead ends, we finally found “the one”.

“How many active listings do you have right now?”

I was sitting on the couch across from a prospective seller when this question came up and to be honest, at the time I was a little confused by why he asked it.

Being an agent with a lot of active listings isn’t something to brag about, in my opinion. An active listing means it’s not sold.

If it’s not sold, my clients can’t move forward with their lives.

If it’s not sold, my clients don’t make any money.

If it’s not sold, my clients need to make sure their house is spotless every single day 😳

My active listings don’t help YOU as my soon to be client….

Actually selling the house is what truly matters so, when you’re interviewing with agents (if chatGPT tells you to ask this question), change it a little bit to something better like “how long do your listings generally take to actually get sold?”

I didn’t wanna sell this one.

I tried to talk my seller out of it for 2 or maybe even 3 years.

Partially because deep down I knew it wasn’t the right time for her and partially because I just wasn’t ready for it!! Hahah

This house held a lot of memories from my childhood.

The really good ones! The Friday nights so the adults could let loose, the dinners huddled in the kitchen and the holidays with the all the kids hanging out in the basement. You know…A lifetime of memories 🩵

This time my client knew better than me and I’m glad she finally wore me down and convinced me to let her sell it.

Congratulations on your next chapter Aunt Kim!! I’m so glad the closing of this one was as quick and relatively easy as it was 😘🙌🎉
