"VIA Rail confirms that a new Train Service Agreement was concluded with Southern Railway of Vancouver Island (SVI) and Island Corridor Foundation (ICF)."

That's a direct quote from VIA Rail Canada received on August 18th, 2025 in response to an inquiry sent in July.

it goes on to say "The terms are similar to those from the original agreement, used before the service interruption in 2011. Service on Vancouver Island will resume once the track is brought back to safe operating standards."

With LRT being on the menu for Langford to Victoria would this Train service agreement provide operational funding and would we get one of those new VIA trains they've been advertising?
