One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home is that you need a 20% down payment.

Depending on the purchase price and your situation, you may be able to buy a home with less than 20% down.

But remember—your down payment isn't the only money you'll need when buying a home. There can also be other upfront costs, such as legal fees, a home inspection, and other closing costs.
