Susan Says… We love our pets.

They’re family. They sleep on our couches, take over our beds, and somehow have more stuff than the kids. 😂

But when you’re selling your home, your furry family members can sometimes be a bit of a challenge for buyers.

Not everyone is a dog or cat person, and even buyers who LOVE animals may have a hard time concentrating on your beautiful kitchen when there’s an 80-pound dog barking at them from the other side of the room!

Before a showing, if possible, take your pets with you. Put away the food dishes, toys, beds and litter boxes, clean up the backyard, and give the house a quick check for pet hair and smells.

And here’s the big one: we get used to the smell of our own homes. Ask someone you trust—or your REALTOR®—to give you an honest sniff test before you list. I promise, I’d rather tell you than have a buyer tell us through their feedback! 😂

The goal isn’t to hide the fact that you have pets. It’s simply to make sure buyers are looking at your HOME… not your pets.
After all, Fido may be adorable, but he’s not included in the sale. 🐾🏡
