WICK, BRISTOL, BS30.
The area of Wick seems to have been overlooked by buyers in recent months despite the popularity of The Golden Valley Nature Reserve with the stunning views of Wicks quarry. So within this post today we'll look at some of the pros of living in this semi rural village and why it should be top of your list of areas specifically when it comes to family life.
Getting to Work
A drawback of living in any village is going to be public transport. This being said, there are regular buses that run through Wick and will get you into Bristol via the A420. For those who commute by car however, Wick could not be any more convenient. The A4174 Ring Road is a short drive away, the M4 can be accessed via the A46 and the village is nestled neatly between Bristol and Bath.
What about schools?
Wick has its very own primary school - Wick CofE - which has a good reputation and, as you expect, sits within lovely grounds. The school is rated 'good' by OFSTED and even benefits from a swimming pool!
But what about secondary school - my teen wants independence?
Children of secondary school age typically attend Sir Bernard Lovell in Oldland Common or St Marks CofE in Bath. Although there may be a fee, both schools put on school buses which collect and return children to the village of Wick!
What other services are available in Wick?
Wick is served by a convenience store, hairdressers, barber shop, cafe and sandwich shop. There are several nearby public houses, with the Rose and Crown in Wick having an excellent reputation for food. There is also a petrol station at the top of the village, a GP surgery and church.
What is there to do in the area?
The little ones in Wick are lucky enough to have Brockwell Park which comes complete with play area, zip line, goal nets and BMX track as well as plenty of space to run and play! There is a great community at Wick with the village hall and Facebook groups - there is always something to get involved with.
And of course there are miles of pleasant walks on your doorstep including the aforementioned Golden Valley.
In terms of Sports - Wick has its own football club and Tracy Park golf course is nearby too.
So, if you and your family are considering a move why not look at homes within this peaceful, well located and semi rural village?
