Tenancy fraud is on the rise – is your property protected? 🚨

The latest reports reveal some alarming statistics:

- Tenancy fraud has increased by 49% year on year.
- Fake employment references are now the UK's fastest-growing fraud category, rising by an incredible 226.6% year on year.
- Tenancy fraud is estimated to cost the UK's private rented sector £4.1 billion every year.

With AI technology becoming more sophisticated, fake documents such as payslips, bank statements and employment references can look remarkably convincing and spotting them with the human eye is becoming increasingly difficult.

A new Government registration scheme is being introduced across England from December 2026.

📌 Landlords will need to register themselves and each occupied rental property.

💷 Cost: £65 per property, per year

📅 Yorkshire & Humber: Registration opens 15 April 2027 and must be completed by 14 July 2027.

⚠️ Failure to register could result in enforcement action and fines.
