Our 75-home later-living development for Newham London has won a Royal Institute of British Architects London Award - our 4th major award this year! Thanks to Mae Architects for submitting this brilliant work.

We know that building safety matters deeply to residents and communities, so we’re pleased that the Building Safety Regulator has now completed its assessment process at Plaistow Hub and issued the Building Assessment Certificate for the building! 🏢

This reflects the extensive safety management arrangements already in place, alongside the ongoing work of our teams and partners to maintain high building safety standards for residents.

We were lucky enough to get a visit to V&A East just ahead of its doors opening to the public this past weekend ✨

The Music is Black: A British Story was genuinely something special. An interactive exhibition tracing the impact of Black British music across centuries, moving and joyful, with more than a few people rediscovering old favourites 🎵

We also tried our hand at weaving in the Why We Make galleries, and shared thoughts on how the East London community can truly be part of everything this place becomes. Always great to meet our new neighbours 🙌

🎉 Exciting times for Newham College, as their upgraded Stratford facilities are shaping up ahead of the September intake, supporting Level 2 Bricklaying and Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeships for local young people 👷‍♂️

We’re proud to support careers in construction 🏗️ and to be working in partnership with Hill and the college on our upcoming projects at Ferndale Park and Pier Road to facilitate apprenticeships and training.

Creating routes to employment, especially for young people, is a central part of our Community Wealth Building vision, supporting joined-up thinking across industries and the public sector to encourage long-term success and sustainable opportunities.

This week, Metro called Plaistow one of the most exciting places to live in East London. We think the people who already call it home knew that already 😉

Plaistow Hub started with a simple ambition: to bring high quality, well-designed homes to a neighbourhood that deserves them, right in the heart of Newham. The development, two blocks right outside Plaistow Underground Station, offers 182 homes for rent alongside a gym, café, and soon a new community hub.

The private rent homes here helped fund an additional 112 affordable homes in Newham, so you know your rent isn't disappearing into someone's pocket - it goes back into the community.

At Populo we like to think of new solutions to housing issues, so it’s great that our Great Green Loft pilot has been mentioned in

blog about New York Mayor Mamdani’s intelligent approach to creating more and better homes.

With we’re going beyond permitted development on the standard Victorian terrace home to create valuable and more usable space (2 x double beds + shower room) at full height. Plus increased insulation improves whole house performance, helping with retrofitting and overcrowding.

What’s not to like when the UK has over 6 million of these ‘loved-but-leaky’ homes?

Yesterday evening we welcomed a group of Geography teachers to the Carpenters Estate in Stratford for a CPD session 🏗️

It was an open exchange about co-design, community, and what it means to teach and learn about estate regeneration. We talked about the resident experience, how young people engage with the estate through fieldwork, and the responsibility that comes with bringing students into communities facing regeneration.

Thank you to Duncan and Foysol from Populo Living for sharing insight into the masterplanning process, to Kate Stockings for leading the session, and to every teacher and fieldwork professional who contributed. 🙌

And there's more to come - we're building resources to better support Geography teachers covering the Carpenters Estate. If you teach KS4 or KS5, we'd love to hear from you. What would you like to see?
