Recently, Tom headed back to Little Wytheford Farm to catch up with fourth generation farmer, Simon, ahead of the start of their wildflower season 🌺

Previously, Tom worked with Simon to secure planning permission for the agricultural buildings now playing an important role in the day-to-day running of the farm.

As well as providing much-needed storage for machinery, equipment and hay, the buildings are also a valuable asset supporting the farm's continued diversification. They're used for everything from livestock housing and machinery storage through to supporting the farm's popular pumpkin picking and wildflower enterprises πŸŽƒ

It's always rewarding to revisit projects and see how they have evolved, helping farm businesses adapt, grow and create new opportunities.

We'll be sharing more of Simon's story and the impact these buildings have had on the business very soon.

Dan, Joe and Emily recently attended the CAAV - Central Association of Agricultural Valuers National Machinery Event hosted by Brown&Co.

The event was located on Andrew Ward’s Farm (WardysWaffle on YouTube), and attracted over 40 valuers from across the UK to hear experts speak on the matter.

Changes in inheritance tax legislation to agricultural businesses means that surveyors now need to have an understanding on how to accurately value assets in the business. The day included an introduction on the legislation from Jeremy Moody, a practical session assessing and valuing farm machinery, and an explanation on the appropriate methods of valuation.
