IFM recently completed internal and external hoarding installation to facilitate the replacement of a revolving door at leading Midlands Medical Centre

With the other access and egress points remaining live throughout the programme, careful coordination and sequencing were essential. All of the all hoarding was transported to site, and a secure and safe working area was cordoned off. The hoarding was then constructed to fully protect the work area inside and out. This included a lockable access door to ensure controlled entry for operatives while maintaining site security.

A temporary waterproof covering was then supplied and installed above the entrance to protect the internal environment and working personnel from the elements during the removal and installation process.

Inside the building, temporary Heras-type fencing was installed with an internal sheet covering to discreetly screen the works from public view, maintaining a professional appearance within the occupied space.

✅ Secure internal and external hoarding installed with controlled access
✅ Temporary waterproof protection installed
✅ On site staff and public kept safe
✅ Potential distractions removed

Projects such as these demonstrate the importance of careful planning and effective site management when delivering works within live environments. IFM continues to support clients with safe, compliant and professionally managed building works.

IFM recently completed comprehensive reinstatement and redecoration work following a roller shutter installation for Waitrose.

Our team carefully prepared the area, and dismantled defective plasterboards, bumper rails and skirtings. Large sections of the ceiling had to be removed, and concrete blocks were reinstated to the dwarf wall to maintain structural stability. New plasterboards and cover boards were supplied and fitted to match the existing finishes, with trims adjusted accordingly to ensure a neat and consistent appearance.

High-level access equipment was installed internally to allow safe removal and replacement of defective ceiling grids and boards, with all works completed in accordance with health and safety requirements.

All repaired areas were redecorated, including a mist coat and two full coats of white emulsion to achieve a seamless finish in line with surrounding surfaces.

Additional external works included repairs to the roller shutter surround, installation of bespoke bird netting where required, and the fitting of concrete slips beneath the window to provide added support and stability.

Upon completion, all areas were assessed aligned and finished to specification, leaving the site fully reinstated and fit for purpose.

✅ Comprehensive making good works completed
✅ Internal and external areas fully restored
✅ High level finish achieved
✅ Customer experience restored
✅ Structural repairs achieved
✅ Safe working practices maintained throughout

IFM recently completed the installation of new handrails at one of our client sites, improving accessibility and safety for all users.

Our engineers began by carefully marking out the positioning of the handrail verticals before excavating and preparing the ground for the uprights. The handrails were then cut to suit the site conditions, with uprights securely installed and secured using concrete to ensure long-term stability.

Once the concrete had cured, horizontal rails were cut to the appropriate lengths and installed, including the fitting of jointing knuckles and bends to achieve a clean, compliant finish. The area was then made good, with topsoil fully reinstated.

✅ Handrails cut, jointed, and fitted to site specification
✅ Excavated Ground reinstated
✅ Handrail Installed, improving accessibility and safety

These works have enhanced site safety and accessibility, delivering a robust and compliant solution tailored to our client’s needs.

IFM recently completed concrete repair works around a fire hydrant at one of our clients sites, restoring the surrounding surface and ensuring the area was left safe and functional.

Our team first accessed the work area and carefully broke out and removed the defective concrete for disposal. The substrate was then prepared to receive new concrete, ensuring a sound base for the repair.

As part of the works, the inspection chamber was re-positioned to the correct level before new concrete was laid around the hydrant. The concrete was then benched off to achieve the correct falls, allowing for effective surface drainage and a durable, long-lasting finish.

✅ Defective concrete broken out and removed
✅ Laid new concrete to correct falls
✅ Cover reinstated and left in operable condition

Works such as these play a key role in maintaining safe and operational external areas. IFM stands ready to support our clients with specialist repair works to keep their sites compliant and well-maintained.

IFM recently completed works carrying out a full gutter clean at one of our clients’ sites, ensuring rainwater systems were clear, functional, and operating as intended.

Due to the height of the gutters, access was safely achieved using a MEWP, allowing our team to work efficiently while maintaining full compliance with site health and safety requirements. A safe working perimeter was established to prevent access by unauthorised personnel while the MEWP was in operation.

Our operatives removed the accumulated silt, sludge, slurry, loose debris, and vegetation from the gutter troughs. All waste materials were bagged up and disposed of appropriately. The gutters were then swept through before being rinsed to leave them clean and free-flowing.

The completed works have restored effective drainage, helping to prevent blockages, water ingress, and potential damage to the building fabric.

✅ High-level gutters accessed
✅ Removal of silt, sludge, debris, and vegetation
✅ Gutters rinsed, cleaned through and left in optimal condition

Routine gutter maintenance like this is essential to protecting building form leaks and water ingress. IFM is always happy to support clients with planned maintenance works, just like this, to keep sites operational.

IFM recently completed essential remedial works to replace a fire exit door that had significantly deteriorated over time, ensuring the area is now safe, secure, and fully operational.

The existing door and frame were carefully removed and disposed of, and the opening was prepared to receive the new steel frame. Our team then installed a new steel fire exit door, complete with a vision panel, door closer, push bar, and electric strike lock. Final sealing and checks were carried out to ensure smooth operation and full functionality.

These works have reinstated a compliant and reliable means of escape, supporting safety requirements, aesthetics and day-to-day site security.

✅ Removal and disposal of existing door and frame
✅ Installed new steel frame and fire exit doo
✅ Door fully tested and operational

Works like this helps sites maintain compliant fire escape routes and ensures buildings remain safe for occupants and visitors alike.

Our Team have the capability to carry out essential winter maintenance to remove snow and ice from walkways and pavements. This helps ensure safe access during this time of adverse weather conditions.
We recently cleared pedestrian routes and surfaces at multiple sites.
Particular attention was given to high-footfall areas, entrances, and key access routes to maintain safe passage for staff, visitors, and the public.

Keeping walkways and pavements clear during snowy weather is critical from a health and safety perspective. Untreated ice and snow can lead to serious injuries, potential liability issues, disruption to operations, and restricted access for emergency services. Proactive gritting and snow clearance play a vital role in minimising these risks and maintaining site compliance during winter months.

✅ Snow and ice removed from walkways and pavements
✅ Grit applied to reduce slip hazards
✅ Access routes left safe and usable

These works help ensure that sites remain safe and accessible for all users throughout periods of severe winter weather.

Replacement Ceiling Russells Hall Hospital

We recently overhauled a ceiling, inclusive of tiles and grid for our client at Russells Hall Hospital. The old arrangement in the entrance, was looking tired and in need of an uplift and reconfiguration.

Our team set up the necessary access equipment and safely removed the existing ceiling tiles for disposal. Adjustments were then made to the ceiling grid, including the supply and installation of new grid sections where required. Electrical supplies were carefully isolated to allow lighting to be removed and set aside while new ceiling tiles were prepared, including cutting precise apertures to accommodate reinstated light fittings.

Once the new ceiling tiles were installed, lighting and electrical supplies were reinstated, and the ceiling grid was cleaned accordingly. All debris was removed from site, and the area was left clean, safe, and fully operational.

✅ Design layout produced
✅Lighting safely isolated and removed temporarily
✅ Ceiling tiles removed for disposal and replacement
✅ Ceiling grid removed, replaced and altered
✅ New ceiling tiles supplied and installed
✅Lights reinstated
✅Access equipment removed
✅ Site left clean and compliant

This project ensured the area was enhanced aesthetically and also added longevity to the ceiling given the new grid replacement
