WE CLOSED!!!
FINALLY. ❤️🩹
This past weekend, I loaded the last few boxes from a garage into my car to donate for my clients—and I had one of those moments where the human side of real estate hit me all over again.
This home took more than a year and a half to sell.
It wasn’t because the home wasn’t worth selling. It wasn’t because the sellers didn’t try. And it certainly wasn’t because there wasn’t a buyer willing to make it happen.
Life happened.
My sellers experienced significant personal hardships and major medical expenses that ultimately put them in a position where a short sale became their only viable path forward. Their goal was simple: avoid foreclosure, preserve what they could, and move forward.
So they hung in there.
And hung in there.
And hung in there.
We had a buyer with an incredible amount of patience and the ability to stay committed while the process dragged on. There were documents, approvals, negotiations, valuations, follow-ups, questions, more documents, more waiting…and then more waiting.
And, honestly, there were moments when I wondered if we'd ever get to the finish line.
What has been especially difficult—and frankly, heartbreaking—is watching people going through an already painful financial and personal hardship have to navigate a system that can feel completely devoid of humanity.
When someone is facing enormous medical expenses and is doing everything they can to avoid foreclosure, you hope there is a person on the other end of the phone who understands that this isn't just a file number.
There are people attached to that file.
There is a family.👨👩👧
There is a home🏡 filled with memories.
There is stress, fear, exhaustion and, sometimes, heartbreak.💔
And then there is the Realtor standing in the middle of it all.
We know real estate. We know contracts, inspections👁, appraisals, negotiations, marketing and closings.📝
But what we see through our lens goes far beyond the transaction.
We see the boxes📦 being packed.
We see the tears.
We see the uncertainty.
We hear the conversations that have nothing to do with square footage or comparable sales.
We become the person our clients call when they don't know what to do next.
And sometimes, we simply hang in there with them.
Today, we closed. 🎉
After 18+ months, countless hours, countless follow-ups and more stress than any seller should have to endure, this chapter is finally closed.
I am incredibly proud of my clients for not giving up.
I'm grateful to the buyer who had the patience and determination to see this through.
And I'm proud that we stayed diligent, persistent and committed to our clients—even when the process became incredibly frustrating.
But I'll be honest…
I'm drained today.
And as I drove away with those boxes in my car, I found myself feeling less like a Realtor who just closed a transaction and more like a human being who had just witnessed how hard life can sometimes be.
Today was a reminder of why I do what I do.
Real estate isn't just about houses.
It's about people.
And sometimes, the most important thing we can do is simply refuse to give up on them.
Today, we closed.
Today, we can finally say: it's over.
And tonight, I'm going to take a deep breath and be grateful that these sellers get to turn the page. ❤️
