When you’re buying a home, it’s easy to focus on the monthly mortgage payment and think, “I can afford that.” But your payment is only part of the picture. Property taxes, homeowners insurance, utilities, maintenance, and those unexpected expenses that come with owning a home all need to be considered when deciding what truly fits your budget.

My advice is simple: don’t just ask, “Can I make the payment?” Ask, “Can I comfortably afford the home?” I want my clients to feel confident in their purchase long after closing day, and that starts with looking at the full financial picture before making an offer. 🏡
