Architecture nerds… this one showed up on my doorstep today.

Mid-Century Modern Midland is a newly released deep dive into one of the most fascinating modernist communities in America. The book documents hundreds of mid-century buildings throughout Midland, Michigan and tells the story of how architect Alden B. Dow helped shape an entire city through thoughtful design, innovation, and a belief that architecture could improve everyday life.

What I love most is that this isn’t just a book about a single architect. It’s about an entire community that embraced modernism and the lasting impact great design can have on a place.

As someone who spends most of my days researching and selling mid-century homes here in Boise, books like this are pure gold.

A big thank you to Henry Whiting for putting this one on my radar.

And if you’re not already following Alden B. Dow Home & Studio, do yourself a favor. The foundation does an incredible job preserving, documenting, and sharing the legacy of Alden B. Dow, his work, and the remarkable architectural history of Midland.

Now excuse me while I disappear for the next few hours.
