GOOD NEWS FOR HIKERS 🥾⛰️

Another piece of the High Country’s recovery is coming back online.

The Profile Access area at Grandfather Mountain State Park has partially reopened, including the Profile parking area, the upper section of the Profile Trail, and the Profile campsite.

The lower section of the trail remains closed as crews continue major restoration work following damage from Hurricane Helene. This isn’t just a repair project. The goal is to create a stronger, safer, and more sustainable trail that can better withstand future storms while protecting one of North Carolina’s most unique natural areas.

If you’re heading out to hike, please respect all trail closures. Staying out of closed sections helps protect the mountain and allows crews to continue the work needed to fully reopen the trail.

A small but meaningful step forward in the ongoing recovery of one of the High Country’s most iconic places. 🌲💗
