🔎 From the Field: One Breaker, Two Wires
During this inspection, we found two electrical conductors connected to a breaker terminal designed for only one.
This condition—commonly called a “double tap”—can prevent the wires from being secured properly. A loose connection may lead to overheating, arcing, or damage inside the electrical panel.
Not every double-wire connection is automatically defective; certain breakers are specifically designed and listed to accept two conductors. That was not the case with the connection shown here.
Electrical panels can reveal safety concerns that are easy to miss without a thorough inspection. We recommended evaluation and correction by a licensed electrician.
