We love when families return home! After graduating from Southeast Missouri State University, Daniel and Sherri North spent nearly three decades away. Now they’re returning home and bringing with them years of experience, wisdom, and a genuine love for this region.

Daniel served as the executive director of the Southeast Missouri Arts Council back in 1998, where his work once extended across 29 counties throughout the region. Soon after we went to build a successful career as an artist.

Sherri has dedicated much of her career to speech pathology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. continuing a lifelong commitment to learning, leadership and serving others.

I personally believe there is no better time than now to have their experience, creativity, and passion back in Southeast Missouri. There is something special about people who leave home, build a lifetime worth of experiences, and then choose to bring what they’ve learned back to the community where it all began.

Cape Girardeau is gaining something special in the process. Another business is coming downtown adding to its growth and creating a new experience for both our community and those who visit.

It has been an honor helping you both, Daniel and Sherri, find the right space for your vision as you begin this next chapter of your lives!

There are people who appreciate history and then there are people who dedicate their lives to making sure it is still here for the next generation. Mary Ann and Bert J. Kellerman have spent decades dedicating their lives to making sure history is preserved in Cape Girardeau.

For example, did you know that the Missouri STATE FLAG was created in Cape Girardeau? At a beautiful historic property known as the Missouri Flag House near Southeast Missouri State University.

The Kellermans' preservation work dates back to the 1970s and in 2012 they founded the Kellerman Foundation for Historic Preservation. Since then, their impact has extended far beyond just restoring historic buildings. They have preserved stories, protected important collections, and created opportunities for our community to better understand the people and places that shaped the region.

Restoring landmarks like the Clark-Kellerman House and Oliver-Leming House to sharing regional stories through exhibits such as the Smithsonian Waterways Exhibit and the Scott-Norman U.S. Grant Exhibit. These are only a few mentions. I encourage you to take some time to look up the Kellerman Foundation and discover more of what they have accomplished.

Their latest chapter continues with Kellerman-Lorimier Hall, the transformation of the historic former Lorimier Elementary School and Cape Girardeau City Hall into a center for history, art, and community. Mary Ann and Bert thank you for your commitment and stewardship. Cape Girardeau is richer because you chose to make sure its stories continue to be told.

Thank you for entrusting me with the sale of The Heritage Hall Museum. Arguably, one of the nicer structures downtown along the river. It has been a true honor. I want to take this moment to also commend the Kellermans for all of your sweat equity to make this happen. A lot of long days and nights went into this. Also thank you everyone else that helped make this transition a success. There is a long list of individuals that supported Mary Ann and Bert with organizing space and relocating a lot of items and even putting together a sale! Without you this does not happen. We are grateful. Cheers to a successful closing!

There are buildings you sell in this profession, then there are buildings you feel a deep responsibility to pass on well. Heritage Hall at 102 North Main in downtown Cape Girardeau is one of those places.

I have had the privilege to learn more about both the seller and buyer on a deeper level. Why do they do the special work that they do? While learning about the type of impact they have cultivated over the years. The curation of this sale is impactful to them and our community in more ways than one.

This complete concrete structure has stood as part of the fabric of downtown. Its historic architectural details, front row river views, preservation work, rare parking potential, and flexible second floor space speak to both its past and what is still possible here at this location. Heritage Hall carries a remarkable connection to Cape Girardeau's history. The building originally served as home to the Cape Girardeau Building and Loan Association, which later became the Cape Girardeau Federal Savings and Loan Association as federal regulations reshaped the institution in the mid-20th century. This space also served as the original law office occupied by Rush Limbaugh Sr during the later years of his legal career in Cape Girardeau. These layers of history are part of what makes Heritage Hall so distinctive. Its significance comes not from any single detail, but from the building itself, the people and institutions connected to it, its architectural character, and the possibilities that remain within its walls.

For years, thoughtful work has gone into preserving the building while considering how it might continue serving downtown Cape Girardeau. Its location and layout offers opportunities for a future use that respects what has already been here while giving the property another meaningful chapter.

Soon, Heritage Hall is being passed along to a buyer with a big vision for downtown and Cape Girardeau as a whole. For me, this is more than bringing a property to the closing table. It is an opportunity to introduce the next owner to a building that has been part of Cape Girardeau for generations and deserves to be appreciated for what it is.

Cheers to a new chapter! Every real estate transaction comes with a story of its own. Some get you excited. Others warm your heart. This one certainly has a little mix of both.

After a few decades away this family is returning home to Cape Girardeau to be closer to loved ones, reconnect with old memories, while one family member is starting in an entirely new area. This lovely area of Cape Girardeau. They all get to start writing what comes next.

In less than a week we were under contract. This home felt like a fitting place for their return. There is room to host gatherings and celebrations. A pool of their own and plenty of green space for everyone including their two lovely pets.

What makes this one meaningful to me is knowing this move is about more than a house. It is about new beginnings. While being close to the people who matter and bringing new personal and business plans to life here in Cape Girardeau!

I am genuinely happy for everyone and incredibly thankful you trusted me to be part of such an important decision for the rest of your life. Welcome home and cheers to a new chapter!
