A 94-unit townhome community is set to replace several businesses and storage units at the northwest corner of Centre City and West Valley parkways.

The Escondido City Council unanimously approved the project. Located on a 3.51-acre site between 510 and 520 W. Valley Parkway, the development calls for the demolition of existing structures, including a 5,900-square-foot building housing T-Shirt Mart, a 7,180-square-foot multitenant commercial building with mostly vacant storefronts, and four self-storage warehouse buildings totaling 30,600 square feet.

The average of all of the economist’s forecasts calls for home prices to rise every year for at least the next 5 years.

Optimists think we’ll see prices go up roughly 4% a year. Pessimists say it’ll be closer to 1%. The reality may be somewhere in the middle.

A lot of buyers are waiting because they think prices will fall, but that’s not what the experts are saying.

The average US 30-year fixed mortgage rate fell to 6.47%. This brings welcome relief to the housing market, dropping from last week’s 6.52% and sitting noticeably below the 6.81% average seen one year ago.
