Guys, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.

First summer in I don’t know how long that we didn’t make it to the beach. I felt bad about it for a solid month.

Then I looked at the camera roll.

Pool days, four wheeler dust, library hauls, movies at the amp, the waterpark, crab boil, skee ball, a fun day in Atlanta, donuts as an actual meal, a real estate mentorship, a cruise to the Bahamas with his Nanny, some arcade fun, summer camps, more fishing trips than I can count and my boys even brought home a win!

Turns out he didn’t need the beach. He needed a summer, and he got one.

We’ll get back to the beach. I’ve got a trip planned and I’m working on it. But I’m not going to miss what’s in front of me while I chase what’s next.

He went back to school yesterday. What was your kid’s best moment this summer? ☀️ 📚✏️

Ten dead giveaways somebody didn't grow up in West Georgia. 👀

You try to run into the Corner Cafe for a quick lunch.

You didn't know UWG used to be West Georgia College.

You don't know anybody who works at Southwire or Tanner.

You say Bremen and Bowdon wrong. It's BREE-mun and BOW-den.

You don't know what the big house on Maple Street used to be.

You think the First Tuesday Mall lot is just a parking lot.

You made other plans the first Saturday in May.

You don't know where the Triangle is. There's no triangle. It's an intersection, and every one of us still gives directions by it.

You ask where Tyus, Burwell, Lowell, Clem, Hickory Level, Sand Hill, or Fairplay is.

You pronounce Villa Rica like it's Spanish.

None of this is a knock. Half the families I help move here started out saying Bremen wrong, and now they're the ones correcting somebody else at the ballfield. That's how you know it took.

The #1 thing to look for in a West Georgia real estate agent (and it's not experience).

Years on a license are easy to put on a bio, but they don't really tell you what working with someone is actually going to feel like, or whether they're going to be the right fit for the move you're about to make.

What matters so much more is finding someone who's truly invested in the outcome.
