Home builders are going smaller.
In 2022, the average size of a new home was 2,560 square feet. Fast forward to the end of 2023, and that figure shrunk to 2,375 square feet. Now, with the median price per square foot in the U.S. holding steady at around $192, that 185-square-foot decrease translates to $35,520 in savings!
The takeaway? If finding the “one” within your budget has been challenging, consider exploring slightly smaller, new builds.
Not only could they fit snugly within your budget, but they might also come bundled with great perks like price reductions or mortgage rate buy-downs.

Happy Very Charleston Friday! Let’s look at my favorite downtown church today, St. Phillips. Established in 1680, St. Philip's is the oldest European-American religious congregation in South Carolina. The first St. Philip's Church, a wooden building, was built between 1680 and 1681 at the corner of Broad and Meeting streets on the present day site of St. Michaels Episcopal. It was damaged in a hurricane in 1710 and a new St. Phillip's Church was begun a few blocks away on Church Street. After being delayed it was finished in 1723. It burned to the ground in 1835. Work on the present church was begun that same year and completed the next. The steeple was added between 1848 and 1850. The tower of St. Philip's served for many years as the rear tower of a set of range lighthouses serving to guide mariners into Charleston's harbor. The light was used from 1893 to 1915. You should definitely go visit sometime!

Whether we are creating a beautiful home, exploring new horizons, pursuing careers—let's not forget the cornerstone of it all: LOVE. Our love of God and His creation, our sweet families, and the wonderful friends we are blessed with, let's ensure every endeavor points us back to nurturing these invaluable connections. Love is the foundation upon which we build our lives, and it's in it is in love that we find true fulfillment.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
