We were enjoying our backyard water slide with the kids the other weekend and heard a familiar jingle. Kelsey and I looked at each other - is that a neighbor kid's naptime song? We ran to the front yard and soon saw Nana's Sweets & Treats pulling in and the whole neighborhood emerging from their backyards and homes.
I think I was a kid the last time I heard an ice cream truck driving through my neighborhood. A bit of nostalgia became the highlight of our day.
There are plenty of things we love about small-town living, but it's the little moments that stand out the most. The slower pace. The sense of belonging in a neighborhood where everyone turns into a kid when they see an ice cream truck.
