This was a busy and very worthwhile week. In addition to taking care of clients, I had the opportunity to attend two fantastic forums that gave me a chance to learn, connect, and gain a deeper understanding of our industry and our community. I am always curious about how things work. I am a knowledge nerd!
The first was sponsored by my local REALTOR® association, along with several fantastic companies who generously contributed to the event. Our keynote speaker was the always-affable Leigh Brown, who is witty, clever, and brings a savvy, refreshingly candid approach to business and our industry. She definitely kept things interesting!
One of my favorite companies to work with is photographer Brett Neilsen. I met Brett many years ago when he helped me with my very first listing. He took fantastic photos, patiently answered all of my questions, and even took the time to explain the ins and outs of drone photography. I have appreciated his expertise and professionalism ever since.
The second event was sponsored by the Women's Council of REALTORS® Pikes Peak that I am a member of and Wings Credit Union (formerly ENT). This economic forum provided a fascinating look at our community and what we can expect in the coming years.
We heard from several local leaders about:
• Our local economy and what is influencing it
• Our water supply, where it comes from, and how it is managed
• Programs and procedures Sheriff Roybal has implemented to help improve our community
• New development and the permits being issued
• Current housing trends and what we will see ahead
And what struck me most was how approachable and down-to-earth each of the speakers was. These weren't just presentations full of statistics and buzzwords. They were real conversations about the place we call home. These conversations provide valuable perspective, not just as an agent, but as someone who lives, works, and invests in this community.
We really do live in a great community, and I am proud to be a part of it. Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region have a lot going on, and there are a lot of moving pieces when it comes to our future.
There is always more to learn, and I am grateful for opportunities like these that help me continue to grow and better serve my clients. If you have questions reach out!

I highly recommend Tiger Plumbing LLC. Their customer service is like no other. They are responsive, honest, and fair. They quickly helped a client out and spotted items that were not properly handled from a previous plumber and addressed those. I have worked with contractors for over 20 years in my line of work and this company is on my preferred vendor list. They have also helped out some of my personal friends.

As a REALTOR® who has been doing this for many years, I’ve learned one very important lesson:

At this point, almost nothing surprises me. And very little seems “odd” anymore.

Sometimes there are things that didn’t make the final cut for the moving truck. Sometimes they’re too hazardous, too weird, too heavy, or simply too “What in the world am I supposed to do with THAT?”

And apparently, I have become the person who says, “Well… I guess I’ll take it.”

Some of the actual things I’ve transported home or taken off a seller’s hands over the years:

• Cleaning supplies
• A sickle
• A bowling ball
• Household décor that was offered for my staging inventory
• And, apparently… a coffin. OK, not yet, but it would be added to my Halloween decor..

Because obviously.

My vehicle at any given point looks less like a REALTOR®’s car and more like the opening scene of a Dateline special.

And then there’s my REALTOR® emergency car kit. Because you just never know what the day is going to throw at you:

🔨 A big ol’ hammer
🪢 Rope
🔗 Zip ties
📦 Several varieties of tape
🪝 Bungee cords
🧽 Cleaning supplies
…and whatever random object I apparently decided was going home with me that day.

So when a seller says, “We left something behind for you…”

I no longer ask what it is.

I just open the trunk.

Seller: “We left this coffin for you!”
Buyer: “We don’t want it.”
Me: …so naturally, it ends up in my car.

Just another day in the life of a REALTOR®. 😂

Today was an awesome day!

I recorded with Sandy Shook, Sips and Stories for Coffee with Sandy on KRDO, and I walked out of that studio feeling connected!

Sandy has a gift for making a conversation feel like catching up with someone who already knows you.

Sharing the experience with Sonya Emph of Red Bow Realty made it even better. Sonya is the kind of person who shows up fully, for her clients, for her community, for the people she is standing next to in a radio studio on a Tuesday. Grateful to be in her orbit.

Air date coming soon.
