When buying a home, everyone knows about the standard home inspection—but there’s one hidden spot most people forget to check: the underground sewer line.

A standard inspection only covers the plumbing inside the house. For a couple hundred dollars, you can add a Sewer Scope, where a specialist runs a camera through the main line to the street.

Why it matters:

1. Tree Roots & Cracks: Tree roots love water and can easily break into older pipes undetected.

2. The Savings: A sewer scope costs around $150–$300. Replacing a collapsed line can easily cost $3,000 to $15,000+.

3. New Builds Aren't Exempt: Construction debris can easily block lines in brand-new homes, too!
