largest provider of Permanent Supportive Housing in the state of Iowa. Managing over 220 housing units, Anawim provides stable housing to 386 individuals who have experienced homelessness and live with a mental illness, substance use disorder, physical disability, diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, or are fleeing domestic violence. Anawim Housing provides safe, affordable, desirable, permanent rental housing for hundreds of families and individuals across Central Iowa. We do this by: owning, managing, and maintaining more than 515 rental homes. This is a mix of single-family homes, townhomes, multi-family apartment buildings -- and duplexes like this one.

For our neighbor Victoria, living with Anawim Housing represents something deeply meaningful: independence. After spending much of her life in apartments, she recently moved into her first home. “I get to be myself here,” Victoria says, “I don’t have to worry about other people above or below me. It’s my own space. I get to be free.” Anawim Housing offers affordable homes in neighborhoods across Des Moines, giving residents the opportunity to choose the communities that fit their lives best. For Victoria, that includes the simple but powerful convenience of being able to walk to her job everyday.
