Sellers aren’t as predictable as we once thought.
The data—and what I’m seeing firsthand in the market—are telling me something interesting.
We often assume that when someone sells their home, they’re downsizing.
But that’s not necessarily the case.
50% of sellers bought a newer home.
34% bought a larger home.
Think about that.
One in three sellers moved into MORE house—not less.
People are selling for all kinds of reasons: changing lifestyles, different locations, better amenities, more space, less maintenance, a new chapter—or simply because they found a home that fits them better.
So if you’re thinking about selling, don’t assume you need to wait for the “perfect” market.
And if you’re thinking about buying, remember: the seller on the other side of your transaction may be a buyer, too.
The market—and the people navigating it—are more nuanced than the headlines make it seem.
The best real estate decisions start with understanding your situation, not following assumptions.
