Carlsbad’s next major community park is officially moving forward. 🌿

Construction began in July 2026 on Veterans Memorial Park, a future 93.7-acre park near Faraday Avenue and Cannon Road. The City of Carlsbad says it will be the largest community park in Carlsbad, with construction expected to take about two years.

For residents, this is more than a park update. It is the kind of long-term community investment that shapes how a neighborhood feels day to day, from outdoor gathering spaces and trails to places for reflection, recreation, and connection.

If you live in Carlsbad or are comparing North County neighborhoods, it is worth keeping an eye on projects like this. Parks, walkability, open space, and civic planning all become part of the lifestyle picture around a home.

Save this if Carlsbad is on your North County list, and share it with someone who likes to track what is changing around the community. If you are looking for a home in North County San Diego, contact Christy today.

Mosquito season 🦟🏡 is one of those small household details that can make a big difference in how comfortable summer feels at home.

San Diego County Vector Control is continuing routine aerial mosquito larvicide treatments during the breeding season, with the next listed treatments scheduled for August 26 and 27, 2026. The county says these treatments are used in hard-to-reach standing water areas and help lower mosquito numbers, which also helps reduce West Nile virus risk.

Several North County areas are listed among potential treatment locations, including San Elijo Lagoon in Encinitas and Solana Beach, Lake Hodges, Buena Vista Lagoon near Oceanside and Carlsbad, Guajome County Park, and multiple Oceanside and Rancho Santa Fe sites.

For residents, the easiest prevention step is still close to home: empty standing water in plant saucers, buckets, drains, fountains, toys, and any small container that can collect water. The county also lets residents request service for mosquito activity, green pools, dead birds, and related concerns through Vector Control.

It is not the most glamorous part of North County living, but it is useful. A few minutes outside can help make patios, backyards, and evening walks more comfortable for the whole household.

Save this as a late-summer home checklist, or share it with a neighbor who has been noticing more bites lately. If you are looking for a home in North County San Diego, contact Christy today. 👇

Coastal neighborhoods are built around more than homes.

One local San Diego running community in Pacific Beach has grown to nearly 25,000 Instagram followers and now brings hundreds of runners 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ together for summer meetups.

What stands out is not just the size of the group. It is the way people are looking for simple, consistent ways to connect with their neighborhoods and with each other.

That is one of the things I pay attention to when helping clients understand a community. The parks, trails, coffee shops, beach paths, fitness groups, farmers markets, and weekly routines all shape what daily life actually feels like.

North County has its own version of this rhythm, from coastal walks in Encinitas and Cardiff to active mornings in Carlsbad, Del Mar, and Oceanside.

What local group, walk, class, or weekly tradition makes your neighborhood feel like home? 😁

Driverless cars are getting San Diegans talking. 🚕🗣️

Axios San Diego recently shared reader reactions to Waymo’s arrival, and the responses were mixed. Some people are curious and ready to try it. Others have real concerns about safety, jobs, and losing the human connection that often comes with getting around town.

What stood out to me is how personal transportation really is. It shapes how we experience a city, how connected we feel to our neighborhoods, and how easy daily life feels.

In North County, those details matter. Walkability, access to coastal roads, school routes, parks, restaurants, and everyday errands all become part of what makes a community feel like home.

As San Diego continues to change, thoughtful conversations like this help us understand what people value most in the places they live.

What do you think, would you ride in a driverless car? 🤔

Big changes are coming to downtown Encinitas.

The proposed Burtech mixed-use project near Moonlight Beach has cleared another major milestone and is moving closer to becoming a reality. The development will bring new condominium residences along with a boutique winery, tasting room, and restaurant to the heart of Encinitas.

As our community continues to grow, projects like this will help shape the future of downtown living and the local lifestyle.

What do you think about this new addition to Encinitas? Let me know in the comments. 👇

Have you been following the daylight saving time debate? ⏰

The conversation continues in California as lawmakers discuss whether Americans should continue changing their clocks twice a year. While there has been ongoing support for making daylight saving time permanent, no changes have been approved yet.

For now, Californians will still “fall back” this November and continue the tradition of adjusting clocks each spring and fall.

Some people love the idea of more evening sunlight year-round, while others prefer brighter mornings. Where do you stand?

☀️ Keep daylight saving time all year?
🌅 Stay on standard time?
⏰ Or are you ready to stop changing the clocks altogether?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
