These joists were sitting in the hanger, but it was never properly nailed into place. Joist hangers are only as strong as their connections, and missing fasteners can reduce the support they’re designed to provide.
It may look like a small oversight, but that’s exactly why you hire a home inspector.

This 1920s home had no v***r barrier beneath the basement area, and the subfloor showed extensive mold like growth from long term moisture exposure.

Growth this widespread does not happen overnight. While there is no way to know exactly how long it had been developing, the conditions had likely been present for many years.

A good reminder that moisture control below a home matters more than most people realize.

We had to jump on this gem of a trend and give Cornerstone the full 1980s treatment.

Big hair, bigger sunglasses, colorful windbreakers, and a mullet that probably deserves its own inspection report. The Cornerstone shirts stayed, of course. Some things never go out of style, especially a thorough home inspection! We take our work seriously, but also like to have a little fun too. Who wears the 80’s better?

That little capped piece of pipe on a gas line actually has a purpose. A drip leg, often called a sediment trap, helps catch moisture, rust, dirt, and other debris traveling through the gas line before it can reach the appliance’s gas valve or burners.
Small detail, important job. It helps protect the equipment and keep the gas system operating properly. .

I found rotten roof sheathing right under the end of the shingles, and it looks like overflowing gutters were the cause. When water spills over instead of draining properly, it can keep soaking the roof edge and eventually lead to rot. Just another reason the little details matter during a home inspection.
