Community Connections | Delta Township

I’m excited to begin sharing a new series focused on the people, projects, organizations, and partnerships helping strengthen Delta Township and the Greater Lansing area.

Too often, the positive things happening in our community go unnoticed.

From volunteer efforts and local nonprofits to schools, parks, community programs, and organizations like the Delta-Waverly Rotary Club, there are many people quietly working to make a difference every day.

The goal of this series is simple:

To highlight the stories, projects, and community connections that help make Delta Township such a great place to live and serve.

Our first video is:
🎥 What Does Delta-Waverly Rotary Actually Do?

In the video, I share some of the local projects and community efforts Rotary supports throughout the Delta Township and Greater Lansing area.

I look forward to sharing more Community Connections videos soon.

I recently spent some time at Sharp Park in Delta Township and captured a few photos while enjoying the trails, open spaces, and peaceful setting. 🌳

Parks like this are one of the many reasons people enjoy living in the Greater Lansing area. Sharp Park has been part of the community for many years and continues evolving to better serve residents and families.

One of the biggest recent improvements came when Delta Township completed the Sharp Park Improvements Project, which included a new picnic shelter, updated restroom facilities, paved pathways, and a fully accessible playground. More than 100 people attended the ribbon-cutting celebration recognizing the investment in the park and the community.

It’s encouraging to see continued improvements in places that help bring people together — whether that’s families at the playground, neighbors walking the pathways, pickleball and tennis players staying active, or simply people enjoying the outdoors.

Sharp Park itself has an interesting history as Delta Township’s second major park facility and sits on nearly 58 acres with walking paths, fishing areas, sports courts, ball fields, fitness equipment, and community gathering spaces.

These local parks are part of what makes Delta Township such a wonderful place to call home.

Do you have a favorite park memory from Sharp Park or somewhere else in Greater Lansing?

I recently spent some time at Delta Mills Park and captured a few photos along the way. It’s hard not to appreciate everything this community park offers — walking trails, pickleball courts, fishing access, picnic areas, playgrounds, canoe launch access to the Grand River, and plenty of open space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

What many people may not realize is that Delta Mills Park was actually Delta Township’s first park facility and has continued to grow over the years with community investment and improvements.

Places like this are part of what makes living in Greater Lansing special. Whether you’re raising a family, enjoying retirement, or simply looking for more balance in life, our local parks add real value to the community experience.

One of the things I appreciate most about living in Greater Lansing is how many beautiful places we have to slow down and enjoy nature. 🌳

I spent some time at Grand Woods Park in Delta Township today, and it’s a reminder that you don’t have to travel far to find peaceful trails, river views, wildlife, and quiet places to recharge. Whether it’s walking the trails, kayaking the Grand River, or simply enjoying the fresh air, this park is one of the hidden gems in our community.

These are the kinds of places that make Greater Lansing such a great place to call home.

Have you visited Grand Woods Park lately? What’s your favorite local park or outdoor spot?
