Today I'm pausing to remember.

Memorial Day has always meant more to me than a long weekend. It's the day we honor the men and women who gave everything so that the rest of us could live freely, build homes, raise families, and put down roots in places we love.

Southern New Mexico has a deep military heritage. So many families here have sacrificed so much for this country, and I carry that with me in everything I do.

Whether you're spending today with family, visiting a cemetery, or just sitting quietly with gratitude, I hope you feel the weight and the gift of this day.

Thank you to all who served, and to the families who loved them.

Registration for the City of Las Cruces Youth Outdoor Soccer League opens soon! ⚽️

The Parks & Recreation Department will offer individual registrations for youth ages 4–10, with divisions available for all genders. League play begins the week of July 11, 2026. Space is limited and registration is first come, first served.

Opens Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 9 a.m. through June 6, 2026 — or until capacity is met.

Registration Fees
• $50 for new participants (includes jersey)
• $40 for returning players (no jersey)
Proof of age or a Parks & Recreation Annual Waiver is required at registration. A current P&R Annual Waiver must also be on file to complete online registration.

Team Placement Information
• Participants must play in their designated age division
• Team requests or team switches are not allowed
• Siblings in the same household may be placed together only if they qualify for the same age division and the request is documented during registration. To document a sibling-team request, call Meerscheidt Recreation Center at (575) 541-2563.
