When you think fire prevention, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers probably come to mind—but don’t forget about your dryer vent.

Cleaning the lint trap after each load is important, but lint can also build up inside the vent line over time, restricting airflow and allowing heat to build up where it shouldn’t.

A few signs your dryer vent may need attention:
🔸 Clothes taking longer to dry
🔸 Clothes or the dryer feeling unusually hot
🔸 A burning or unusual odor
🔸 Excess lint around or behind the dryer
🔸 Poor airflow at the exterior vent

And remember: cleaning the lint trap isn't the same as cleaning the dryer vent.
