“I was pretty much born into the real estate industry,” Mahogany explained. “My parents started out with a duplex. In fact, there’s a photo of my mom pregnant with me in front of the house!
“That duplex was their first investment property. My dad then bought a triplex and I remember writing the final mortgage payment when I was 12 years old!”
At a very early age, Mahogany got actively involved in the real estate industry. “I was probably around 12 years old when I started dealing with the tenants. My father was very eager to have me involved. My family bought many properties over the years and I remember getting excited when we paid an additional $100 down on the mortgage principle.”
When Mahogany set out on her own, she set out down a different career path, pursuing a career in fitness, nutrition and bodybuilding in her 20s. But it was a business niche that did not have the longevity Mahogany sought.
“There came a point when I realized that my time in the industry was over. And I remember thinking, ‘Wow, what shall I do now?’” Mahogany recalled, adding, “I like freedom. I like to pursue my own path. I’ve never liked sitting in an office and I wanted a position where I could be my own boss. So I started thinking about what I could do with my skill set. Real estate was the logical choice and once I got my license, I realized how much knowledge and experience I really did have!”
“I know what buying an investment property can do for a family when the parents make a smart investment decision. I was a dreamweaver in the fitness industry, so it was a small leap to apply those skills and strategies to the real estate industry,” Mahogany explained. Mahogany was based in Atlanta for a decade until 2013, when she transitioned to her native Southern California.
