Is it really about the house?
As a REALTORĀ®, I spend a lot of time talking about square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms, school districts, kitchens, yards and price.
But sometimes I think we miss the bigger picture.
This was our home from 2006ā2018.
This was Mustang Isle in San Antonio, Texas.
And when I look at this picture, I donāt see the house.
I see my boys riding their bikes up and down the street.
I see kids running from one house to another.
I see neighbors who became friends.
I see cul-de-sac parties, summer evenings and countless memories being made right outside our front door.
Our kids could roam the cul-de-sac because we knew the people around us. We looked out for one another. There was a sense of community and connection that made our neighborhood feel like so much more than a collection of houses.
Thatās what home meant to us.
And I think thatās something worth considering when youāre buying your next home.
Yes, you want the right floor plan.
Yes, you want the right price.
Yes, you want the right location.
But what do you want your life to look like there?
Who will your kids grow up with?
Will you know your neighbors?
Will your street become the place where memories are made?
Will you look back 10 or 20 years from now and remember the houseā¦ or everything that happened there?
Because ultimately, I don't think we buy houses. We buy the possibility of a life.
So Iāll ask you:
What is your hope for your home and your future?
