Butler Land & Timber has a long and successful history in south Alabama, dating back five generations. Brad Butler formed the current company in May of 2000, following the untimely death of his father, John Allen Butler. On January 1, 1976, John Allen Butler followed in his father’s footsteps after obtaining a forestry degree from Auburn University and founded Crenshaw Forest Services. He worked exclusively in the timber business until 1990, when he obtained his real estate license and formed Butler Realty and Timber Company. Between 1990 and 2000, John Allen provided services in land management, timber harvesting, replanting and consultation to clients throughout central and south Alabama. Beginning in his pr***en years and continuing up until his father’s death, Brad spent countless hours under the careful tutelage of his father, learning the inner workings of the land and timber business. That ingrained love for the land was instilled in him early on, giving him the insight to look at the potential of every acre of land or tract of timber, rather than just its monetary value.
