🚣‍♀️ Most cities have neighborhoods.

Norfolk has neighborhoods... and kayak launches. Lots of them. Apparently, Colleen knows where all 17 are. 😳

While some people spend their weekends sitting in traffic, Norfolk locals can launch a kayak from Willoughby, East Beach, Riverview, Nauticus, the Elizabeth River, the Lafayette River, and just about everywhere in between.

One thing Norfolk does really well? Homes with character.
Original hardwood floors. Big front porches. Built-ins. Mature trees. Unique layouts. Details you just do not see in every newer home. Norfolk has so many neighborhoods where the homes feel warm, established, and full of personality.
But charm still needs common sense.

When looking at an older home, pay attention to things like the roof, windows, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, crawl space, and drainage. The pretty stuff matters, but the practical stuff is what protects your wallet. Nobody wants to fall in love with crown molding and then get body-slammed by a surprise repair list.
That does not mean older homes are a bad choice. Not at all. It means you want to understand what you are buying so you can make a smart decision.

Norfolk has some truly beautiful homes. The key is finding one with the right mix of charm, condition, and location.
