BIG NEWS FOR SOUTH DAKOTA HOMEBUYERS!

High five to anyone thinking about buying their first home!

South Dakota Housing has announced a new program called GIVE ME FIVE, designed to help first-time homebuyers with one of the biggest hurdles to homeownership: saving for a down payment!

Here's what you need to know:
5% Down Payment Assistance: Eligible buyers can receive assistance equal to 5% of their first mortgage amount.

FORGIVABLE After 5 Years: The assistance may be completely forgiven after five years if you meet the program's occupancy and other requirements.

No Monthly Payment: The assistance is structured as a separate second mortgage with no monthly payments.

Purchase Price Limit: Homes must be priced at $410,000 or less.
First-Time Buyers: Generally, you must not have owned a home in the past three years.

Income Limits Apply: Eligibility depends on household income and other program guidelines.

Primary Residence: The home must be your primary residence in South Dakota.

The program officially launches November 2, 2026!
A few things to keep in mind:

Buyers must qualify through a participating lender, and additional requirements apply.

Assistance may need to be repaid if you sell, refinance, or move before satisfying the forgiveness requirements.
