Who decided a boy’s room had to be blue, gray and predictable? 👀

This Gulf Shores bedroom belongs to a sixth-grade boy, and I love that it feels youthful without feeling childish.

We started with that incredible surfboard mural and pulled the room’s palette straight from it: olive green, warm rust, deep blue and sandy neutrals. Even better, those earthy, saturated colors are having a major moment in 2026 interiors.

The olive velvet bed grounds the room, the rust adds warmth, and the blues give us that subtle connection back to the Gulf without turning the room into a literal “beach theme.”

A child’s room can have personality, color and sophistication while still giving them space to grow.

And one of my favorite little secrets? The bedding is from Amazon. 😉 You can find it on our Amazon Storefront.

Este dormitorio en Gulf Shores pertenece a un niño de sexto grado, y me encanta que se sienta juvenil sin sentirse infantil.

Comenzamos con ese espectacular mural de tablas de surf y tomamos de ahí la paleta del espacio: verde oliva, tonos óxido, azul profundo y neutros cálidos inspirados en la arena. Y mejor aún, esos colores terrosos y saturados están teniendo un gran momento en el diseño de interiores en 2026.

La cama de terciopelo verde oliva le da peso al espacio, el óxido aporta calidez y los azules crean esa conexión sutil con el Golfo, sin convertir el dormitorio en el típico “cuarto de playa.”

El dormitorio de un niño puede tener personalidad, color y sofisticación, y al mismo tiempo darle espacio para crecer.

Want those smooth, magazine-worthy doors? Pay attention to HOW they’re painted. 🚪✨ Brush versus spray is one of those details homeowners rarely think about until they see the finished product. And yes, I absolutely have a preference.

Beautiful Superwomen, 🤍

I have been thinking about all of you since Built to Lead and wanted to send a heartfelt thank-you. The day was filled with so much reflection, laughter, connection, and beautiful energy, and I am deeply grateful to every woman who shared that room with us. I hope you left feeling encouraged, connected, and, most importantly, seeing yourself a little more clearly.

I created a short note for you as a small thank-you and continuation of the conversation we began together.

In addition to the journal you received, I also created a simpler and complimentary Take the Cape Off Reflection Guide. If the journal feels a little intimidating, this is a beautiful place to start. Spend a little time with it, and if it speaks to you, share it with another woman who may need that same invitation to pause and reflect. You can find the link in my bio.

Queridas Supermujeres, 🤍

He estado pensando mucho en todas ustedes desde Built to Lead y quería enviarles un agradecimiento de corazón. Fue un día lleno de reflexión, risas, conexión y una energía hermosa, y estoy profundamente agradecida con cada mujer que compartió ese espacio con nosotras. Espero que se hayan ido sintiéndose inspiradas, acompañadas y, sobre todo, viéndose a sí mismas con un poquito más de claridad.

Preparé una pequeña nota para ustedes como muestra de agradecimiento y para continuar la conversación que comenzamos juntas.

Además del diario que recibieron, también creé una versión más sencilla y gratuita, la guía de reflexión Take the Cape Off. The little girl who needed to hear “you belong here” is still in there. 🤍 She may have a career, a family, responsibilities, and a whole lot more on her shoulders now, but she still deserves a space that reminds her of everything that is possible.

That is why we keep building from the ground up.

Rosita was created for the little girl learning that she belongs in every room she dreams of entering. And is for the woman she is becoming: the one learning that she doesn’t have to carry everything alone to belong there.

Different chapters. Same woman. Same foundation.

Esa niña que necesitaba escuchar “tú perteneces aquí” todavía vive dentro de ti. 🤍 Quizás ahora tenga una carrera, una familia, responsabilidades y muchísimo más sobre sus hombros, pero todavía merece un espacio que le recuerde todo lo que es posible.

Por eso seguimos construyendo desde los cimientos.

Rosita nació para esa niña que está aprendiendo que pertenece en cada espacio que sueña ocupar. Y es para la mujer en la que se está convirtiendo: la que está aprendiendo que no tiene que cargarlo todo sola para merecer estar allí.

Can we have a moment for this before and after?! 😍 Goodbye dated tile, nasty grout lines, vertical blinds, and forgotten TV wall. Hello custom built-ins, beautiful texture with grasscloth wallpaper, warm wood tones, and a space that feels polished without trying too hard. THIS is why the details matter, mi gente.

¿Podemos tomarnos un momento para apreciar este antes y después? 😍 Adiós a las losas anticuadas, esas líneas de lechada horribles, las persianas verticales y esa pared del televisor que estaba completamente olvidada. Hola a la ebanistería hecha a la medida, la hermosa textura del papel tapiz de fibra natural, los tonos cálidos de madera y un espacio que se siente elegante sin esforzarse demasiado. POR ESTO los detalles importan, mi gente.

“Construction isn’t for me.” Are you sure? 😉 Because this industry is SO much bigger than the job site. There are hundreds of ways to build something without ever picking up a hammer. Especially to the young women watching, don’t count yourself out before you know what’s possible. 🤍

“La construcción no es para mí.” ¿Estás segura? 😉 Porque esta industria es MUCHO más que la obra. Hay cientos de maneras de ayudar a construir algo sin jamás tocar un ma****lo. Especialmente a las jóvenes que están viendo esto, no se descarten antes de conocer todas las posibilidades. 🤍
