Seattle continues to grow, and the latest census estimates help explain why.

The city added more than 22,000 residents between 2023 and 2024, making it one of the fastest-growing large cities in the country. Population growth is often a reflection of strong job opportunities, desirable neighborhoods, and the quality of life people find here. After 36 years in Seattle real estate, I continue to see people drawn to everything our region has to offer.

Despite much reporting on a population exodus from Washington, Seattle had one of the largest population gains among U.S. cities in 2025.

June is one of my favorite months in Seattle. The longer days, neighborhood gatherings, and community celebrations create such an incredible energy throughout the city.

Seattle Pride Month is a wonderful reminder of the diversity, creativity, and inclusivity that make our region so special. Whether you're attending a parade, supporting local businesses, or simply taking part in the many events happening throughout the month, it's a meaningful time to celebrate the people and communities that help make Seattle feel like home.

Late spring around town has a rhythm that I always appreciate, especially as the days stretch longer and life starts moving outside again. Lately, that has looked like evenings near the water, weekend walks with Cooper and Ruby, quality time with friends, and a cocktail-making class at Smith Tower that I would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a fun Seattle outing. There’s something about this season that reminds me to slow down, look around, and enjoy the places and people that make life here feel so full.

And then there’s Ruby. I had forgotten how much work a puppy can be, but dogs have a way of bringing us back to what matters most. Her latest lesson? Even when something feels bigger than you, don’t back down. Go for it.

A pretty good reminder for the season, if you ask me!

I’m getting ready for an upcoming camping trip, which means I’m already doing one of my favorite pre-trip rituals: mapping out the fun places to stop along the way.

If your summer plans take you east on Highway 2, this stretch from Everett to Wenatchee is such a good reminder that the drive can be part of the adventure. Yes, US 2 can be slow through Sultan and Gold Bar, and yes, cell service gets spotty as you climb toward Stevens Pass. But between the Skykomish River, Mount Index, roadside bakeries, quirky landmarks, and little mountain-town stops, it’s one of those routes that rewards you for not rushing.

A few stops worth keeping on your radar:

▪️ Sultan Bakery for breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, and a maple bar that’s hard to beat
▪️ Espresso Chalet near Index for Bigfoot kitsch, coffee, and views of Mount Index, Bridal Veil Falls, and the Skykomish Valley
▪️ Iron Goat Trail for a dose of Stevens Pass history and old railway remnants
▪️ Scenic Hot Springs if you plan ahead and book a reservation
▪️ The Alps Candy near Leavenworth for taffy, fudge, and Wenatchee River views
▪️ Pybus Public Market in Wenatchee for a final food-and-gift stop before your next leg of the trip

Weekend travel is always better when you leave room for the unexpected, and Highway 2 gives you plenty of reasons to pull over, stretch your legs, grab something good, and enjoy the ride.
