The Rays are planning to play the 2025 season at Tampa’s Steinbrenner Field, spring training home of the rival New York Yankees.

The Rays have been looking for an interim home since Hurricane Milton caused extensive damage to Tropicana Field last month. Under a repair plan revealed Tuesday, the Trop won’t be playable until the 2026 season.

Playing in Tampa also would provide the Rays an entrée to a segment of their market they seemingly have had trouble connecting with, bringing the game closer to fans who at times have cited the travel time to downtown St. Petersburg as prohibitive.

What a night! After a brutal couple of weeks, the Lightning once again prove they are an integral part of our community - delaying opening night so more people could attend ( including linemen from Vancouver, who got a huge standing ovation) and treated the sell-out crowd to a convincing 4-1 win.
Many moments throughout the night focused on the effects of 2 hurricanes, and the start of thecTampa Strong project.

Rough week for sure. Like my friend reminded me..."possessions can be replaced, lives cannot"...and with that I'd say we were quite fortunate.
So while we have a drink and charge our phones at one of our favorite spots, I'm reminded that while the sun will rise again, the sunsets are always spectacular.

The City of Tampa Solid Waste Department will begin collection of storm debris on Monday, September 30. Storm debris will include vegetative, household items and construction debris created due to the damaging effects of Hurricane .

📲 Residents that are ready for collection immediately may request collection by calling the City of Tampa Solid Waste Call Center at 813-274-8811.

📆 For customers requiring additional time for assessment and removal of vegetative-storm debris, and damaged household items, the official collection will begin on Monday, October 7. As of this date, call in requests will not be required. Crews will canvas each neighborhood within City of Tampa limits and collect storm related debris from the curb.

FOX 13 meteorologist Dave Osterberg says impacts from Hurricane Helene will likely be felt in the Tampa Bay area starting Wednesday night, with the worst weather being felt on Thursday.
Models show Helene strengthening in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and making landfall, possibly as a major hurricane, in the Big Bend area on Thursday. The exact timing and location will become clearer as the storm develops.
