Hi, many of you have already talked to me in person or on the phone but I just wanted to let everyone know that my family and I have relocated to Southwest Florida. I'm excited to announce that I already have launched my real estate career with Michael Saunders Company- a premier real estate brokerage in its 50th year based out of the Sarasota Florida area. I am working out of our beautiful, brand new Wellen Park office located in Venice.
Wellen Park is an up-and-coming development featuring homes to fit every need along with restaurants, shopping and even the Atlanta Braves training facilities. It's a short drive to beautiful beaches located between Sarasota and Fort Meyers.
I have loved my time in Wisconsin working with First Weber and still remain actively licensed in Wisconsin and I am working with a great team of agents there to handle any real estate buying or selling needs throughout Wisconsin. Thinking About Moving to Florida?
This might be the year to stop thinking about it.

If you've been telling yourself, "We'll move to Florida someday," that someday may be better sooner than later.

Florida voters will decide this November whether to approve one of the biggest changes to the state's Homestead Exemption in years. If it passes, there could be a real advantage for people who establish Florida as their permanent residence by December 31, 2026.

For many retirees, that's worth paying attention to.

Why the deadline matters

Under the proposed amendment, Floridians who establish permanent residency by the end of this year could qualify for the full enhanced Homestead Exemption when it becomes available.

Those who wait until 2027 to establish residency would generally start with a smaller exemption and work toward the full benefit over five years.

No one knows how Florida voters will decide this November.

But if you're already planning to retire here in the next year or two, it may be worth moving your timeline up instead of waiting.
