“Your grandson is in jail. He needs money for bail right now.”

That kind of message is meant to make you panic before you have time to think. Family emergency scams rely on urgency, fear and sometimes even AI-cloned voices to make the situation feel real.

If you receive a call like this:

• Don’t send money immediately.

• Contact your loved one directly using a number you already know.

• Check with another family member or trusted person if you can’t reach them.

• Be cautious of requests for wire transfers, cryptocurrency, payment apps or gift cards.

Helping members recognize and avoid fraud is a priority at Pathways. If you receive a suspicious request for money, verify the story before acting and contact us at 800-367-7485.

We’re here to protect your financial well-being. 🛡

A neighborhood location that feels like a little bit of rolling hill country near to everything you need. And did I mention the miles of trails available for recreation.
