🌞 Hot weather is in the forecast for Central Ohio! Here are tips to keep you cool:

1. If you have air conditioning:
☑️Change or clean the air filter in the A/C unit.
☑️Remove debris and weeds from around central air units.
☑️Set the thermostat for no more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside temp. This prevents your cooling system from over-working and reduces energy costs.

2. If you do not have air conditioning:
☑️Set your ceiling fans to spin counter-clockwise.
☑️Use pedestal fans and box fans to keep air circulating briskly.
The moving air creates a "wind chill" effect, which can make you feel 4°F to 8°F cooler than the actual room temperature.

3. Close blinds and curtains to block sunlight on hot days.

4. Drink plent of water! Staying hydrated helps regulate body temperature, prevents heat exhaustion, and helps you avoid heatstroke. Make sure your pets have access to clean, fresh water too!

5. Reduce humidity in the home. Run washroom exhaust fans when showering. Operate a dehumidifier in lower levels where humidity tends to build. You can also use calcium chloride crystal products (like DampRid) to pull excess moisture out of the air. This helps prevent mold, mildew, and musty smells.
