A caution for : Visiting an open house seems like harmless fun, but it holds risks. If you sign a guest book, or register at a builder's model home, those sales reps can claim you as their client! This makes it difficult to bring in your own representation later.
Once you start discussing price, financing, etc. at an open house, you have placed yourself in the hands of a sales rep who represents the seller. This means you could overpay for the home, and lose critical buyer protections in the contract!
