Meaford is not the sleepy Georgian Bay town you once knew.

$19.9 million just announced to build a brand new elementary school because our current one is bursting at the seams. And here’s the thing: we built a new K-12 school just a handful of years ago. Hit capacity almost immediately.

Growing up here myself, I once didn’t understand the draw to Meaford. Now, I don’t question a family making the move from the GTA for a whole new lifestyle. Everyone has heard me say that I believe Meaford is the nicest waterfront town on our side of Georgian Bay.

Beyond myself, more people every year are figuring out what the locals have always known. You can raise your family in one of the most beautiful corners of Southern Georgian Bay without sacrificing community, schools, or that small-town feel. New shops and restaurants continuing to come to town and day by day making it that much better.

Had such a great morning at Tim Hortons in Meaford today.

Kimberly Rogers and I took over the cookie decorating station for the Meaford Hospital Foundation fundraiser and honestly, I think we both missed our calling. The smiles we put on those cookies were top tier. The cookies looked delicious. For those of you who know about my sugar allergy, I want you to know I showed serious restraint. At home it’s one for the box, one for me, one for the box, one for me. Today? Every single cookie made it in the box. Growth.

The crew at Meaford Tim’s was great to share the space with, and the cause behind it all is one worth talking about. The Meaford hospital has been there for a lot of people in this community including myself. If that includes you or someone you care about, this is a pretty simple way to say thanks. Stop in, buy a cookie or a dozen, zero judgement, and know that every purchase goes straight to the foundation.

The fundraiser runs until May 3rd. No baking skills required. Just show up and eat a cookie. We already did the hard part.
