Here is a quick glimpse of the Pateman headquarters in the heart of Cumberland BC. Our house was built in 1894 for the first mayor of Cumberland. We bought it at the end of 2008… and have been working on it ever since. We have raised both of our boys here. My wife has poured her love into the gardens, and I have poured something like love into the construction of every detail (I swear a lot when I do construction).

I’ll give you a better tour in the weeks to come when we wrap up our latest project.

When you own an old house, especially one as big as this one… the work never ends! But in my opinion… It’s worth it.

We decided to go with the flow here and do a Safari. It is not something we would normally gravitate towards, but we were assured this is an ethical nature reserve. Our driver got us out ahead of the masses and we felt like we had the entire reserve to ourselves for the morning. It was pretty special.
