High building costs have made adding a rental unit or family suite feel out of reach. Wait too long to start and you miss the construction deadlines required to qualify.
The window is open, but it closes fast. Between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027, Ontario's expanded HST relief returns up to $80,000 per new rental unit, with the federal HST portion stacking on top.
