📌 Credit scores.
Fortunately or unfortunately, credit scores are one of the main components when it comes to getting approved for a mortgage.

Your income still needs to support the payment, but without an acceptable credit score, getting approved can be tough. ⚠️

Lenders typically look at your credit from Equifax and TransUnion, and often use the lower score to be conservative.

As a general rule, you’ll want your score to be at least 620 to qualify with many lenders and banks, but the higher your score, the better your options and rates. 🗂️

So how do you check your score? You can request it from either or both bureaus and get a consumer report. 📱

Keep in mind that consumer report scores differ slightly from what lenders and banks look at. Generally, consumer reports weigh current and future repayment habits, while lenders and banks look at more factors, such as current and historical accounts, utilization, and the age of active accounts.

The average days on market in London is currently 24 days. This means, if you want to sell your home by July 1st., realistically, you should be listing your home by June 7th. Now, of course, every sale is different.

Some homes will sell in one weekend.

Some will take 24+ days to sell.

But as a real estate agent here in London, I can tell you there’s one thing that will always INCREASE your odds of selling quickly: MARKETING.

I firmly believe that buying a house at a young age is one of the absolute best things you can do. Will owning a house make you “rich?” Of course not. But it lays a financial foundation where every month you’re building equity in SOMETHING. This is not insignificant.

Making progress towards a goal is addicting (in a good way), and it eventually shows up in other areas of your life. The younger you learn this, the better.

More important than the money itself is the mindset this habit unlocks.

Every goal in life worth pursuing is going to take a long time…and it’s going to require ongoing consistency more than temporary intensity. Too many people are trying to get rich quick when they should be focused on getting rich slowly.

In any endeavor, the price of success is usually just doing the same boring things over and over again…that most people aren’t willing to do. This is what creates results in the gym, in business, and ultimately in life.

This is why cultivating the emotional discipline to pay a monthly mortgage is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

It’s more than a mortgage, it’s about the type of person it helps you to become.
