Last night I had the strangest dream..

A woman and her husband had driven from another province just to see one house. It was an abandoned house that was in the middle of nowhere and it had a small bunkie on the land, but it was listed very high (375,000). I had tried to convince them not to drive in to see the house, because I could tell it was extremely overpriced without even going in to see it - but they insisted.

So I drove out to the house, and my mum and a few of my children came with just to check it out. The couple met us there and we entered the house...

The main floor floor joists seemed to have been removed in most places, but someone had put a very stretchy trampoline-like sheet over the entire main floor, that tucked downwards in a really creepy "fall-into-the-basement" way in the corners. I was immediately very weirded out and announced out loud that I didn't like this at all, as I stepped into an area with no floor joists and it sagged a few feet down, leaving me to climb up out of it.

The husband was very apprehensive - he didn't say much but he was struggling to get across the gutted main floor, and he didn't look happy. The wife, though - she was THRILLED! She kept talking about how much potential the house had as she casually slipped past the trampoline and fell into the basement. I kept reminding her that a house in this condition should be under 100,000 but she was already exploring the mouldy, wet basement with two of my children - who found chocolates down there and happily ate them.

My mum joined me in trying to convince the woman that the house was not at all worth it, but she ended up befriending the woman and they had a laugh about all of the card games you can play in Moncton area as they climbed around this scary, wet, bouncy-floored abandoned house, and I followed them feeling defeated.

And these are the work dreams I have.

This is the first family home for my buyers and brought back so many feelings for myself and my family of our own first home. The feeling of walking into a place and knowing that it is your OWN little slice of the world. Your own place to paint, to decorate, to furnish, to fill with memories. This home came along at the PERFECT time for my buyer. It was the right area, the right price, and exactly what we were looking for! I was folding laundry in pajamas on the couch when he texted to say "my home just got listed" and an hour later, we were there! (I was no longer in pajamas).
