⚠️ This could have ended very differently.

A dead tree recently fell in my neighbours yard, damaging a neighbour’s shed, ripping the electrical mast on our home and knocking out our power. It also left a live electrical line across the pathway used by a young family and their child to access their apartment.

Thankfully, no one was outside when it happened.

The biggest concern is that three even larger dead trees remain standing in the same area, close to the power lines and within reach of nearby homes. Residents have been contacting NB Power about these hazards for approximately four years, but the trees remain.

As a local REALTOR®, former home inspector and Red Seal Carpenter, I understand how much damage dangerous trees can cause. More importantly, as a husband, father and neighbour, I’m concerned that someone could be seriously injured if another one falls.

I have recently reached out to our MLA to get their help with NB Power and the appropriate authorities to address this situation before someone gets hurt. One tree has already caused property damage, created a serious electrical hazard and knocked out power to our home. We should not have to wait for another close call before action is taken.
