Bank of Canada Holds Interest Rate Steady at 2.25%

๐Ÿ’ฐThe Bank of Canada has kept its key interest rate unchanged for the fifth announcement today.

๐Ÿ”ŽThe Bank of Canada says the economy was weaker than expected early this year, while higher oil prices could keep inflation near 3% in the months ahead. With inflation risks and economic slowdown pulling in opposite directions, the Bank chose to hold interest rates steady. Looking ahead, growth is expected to improve, but uncertainty remains due to the conflict involving Iran and ongoing U.S. trade policy developments.

๐Ÿ“ŠThe spring market continued to strengthen across the GTA. Sales activity increased, inventory tightened, and buyer confidence improved.

๐Ÿ“ˆMomentum picked up across the Durham Region and east. Peterborough and Prince Edward County stood out with the strongest price growth, while Durham remained stable.

Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland saw increased sales activity but softer pricing, giving buyers more negotiating power.

While inventory remains higher in many areas, the gap between sales and new listings narrowed in May, pointing toward a balanced market.
