Hello Cliffside Village,
We have heard the concerns from the community about the loss of the murals on the buildings at 2328-2350 Kingston Road that are set for demolition. We agree with the community that the loss of these murals is unfortunate, they represent the history of Old Scarbrough and they add a nice splash of colour to the streetscape that makes it a more interesting place to be.
When the demolition fences went up, Councilor Parthi Kandavel’s Office reached out to us to find a solution. While the original murals cannot be saved in-place, we are working with the councillors office to design and dedicate a new mural at a prominent place in Cliffside Village. We will be working with the Councillors office and will be reaching out to Scarborough Arts and other Local artists on to develop some mural concepts that the community can vote on. We place a lot of value on art - our Merge Spaces Office across the street has over 10 interior murals.
The Cliffside development was previously launched as a pre-construction condo in 2024, since then we have revised our plans to a fully rental building, which will deliver 209 homes and 8,000 square feet of new retail space when completed. We are very excited about this project and the new vibrancy it will bring to Cliffside. Looking forward to engaging with you over the next few years as we build Scarborough up!
